I am a Trumpet player. I try to avoid the usual standard trumpet noises (nice as they are), and use various aids from electronic pedals and laptop software to extra bits of tubing and kazoos on the end of slides to make the trumpet sound like something you haven't heard before. I write and record my own music as well as playing with bands that like a sound that is a bit different.
